Overview
Run employee onboarding from records, checklists, access, and reviewed reminders.
People Ops Starter Kit creates onboarding and access records when you add a hire, then keeps dates, owners, statuses, and reminder drafts in dedicated workspace pages.
- 7default onboarding task typesfrom contract work through the 30-day check-in

- 2reminder channelsSlack and Gmail drafts require manual sending
People Ops Starter Kit gives a solo founder one workspace for employee records, job titles, onboarding tasks, probation and review dates, and software access. Adding an employee calculates the probation and first-review dates, applying Finnish employment law limits probation capped at six months, and at half the contract length for fixed-term contracts. The cap is applied as you type, so an unlawful probation period can't be entered by mistake.
The employee detail page keeps checklist ownership, due dates, statuses, and software access together. The dashboard surfaces employees starting in the next 30 days, overdue onboarding tasks, probation reviews due in the next 30 days, and license costs, while dedicated pages manage tools, job titles, founder settings, offboarding, and unconfirmed licenses.
A daily scan drafts Slack and Gmail reminders into a review queue, where the founder sends or discards each one; nothing is sent automatically. Payroll calculation, tax withholding, filings, and payment execution stay outside the workspace by design.
What's inside
- Employee records
Keep each hire's operating record together
The Employees page lists tracked hires by name, job title, manager, start date, and status. Adding a hire validates the selected job title, computes probation and first-review dates, and creates the default onboarding and access records.
- Onboarding workflow
Turn every hire into assigned checklist work
Creating an employee generates default tasks for contracts, identity and tax details, accounts, equipment, buddy assignment, introduction meetings, and the 30-day check-in. The founder can update, add, or remove tasks and change statuses as the work progresses.
- Software access
See which tools each role should receive
Job titles carry default tool sets, and adding an employee creates requested access records from those defaults. The founder can update access status, record confirmations or revocations, inspect cost history, and review licenses that remain granted after someone leaves or have not been confirmed for more than 90 days.
- Founder-reviewed reminders
Review drafted reminders before anything is sent
The reminder queue collects drafts for upcoming starts, overdue checklist tasks, probation reviews, and license confirmation work. The founder can inspect each draft, send it through the connected personal integration, discard it, or run the scan again; the system does not send automatically.

- Founder managing software access“I want job-title defaults and access records so licenses do not disappear into scattered notes.”
- Founder reviewing reminders“I want Slack and Gmail drafts prepared for review, not sent automatically on my behalf.”

FAQ
Does the workspace send reminders automatically?
No. A daily scan drafts Slack and Gmail reminders, but the founder must review and click Send for each draft.
Does it calculate payroll or make payments?
No. Payroll calculation, tax withholding, filings, and payment execution are outside the workspace.
What happens when I add an employee?
The workspace validates the job title, calculates probation and first-review dates, creates the default onboarding checklist, and creates default software access from the job title.
Can I change the onboarding checklist?
Yes. From the employee detail page, the founder can update task status, add a custom task, edit task details, or remove a task.
Which users operate the workspace?
The specification assumes a solo founder logs in and updates task statuses while managers respond through Slack or email rather than logging into the workspace.
